A 950 m2 villa designed for a confidential client in Southern Crete in 2011. Based on a number of archetypes found in Greece and Crete specifically, such as the “megaron” form from the Minoan period, the building design was generated by organizing the program elements so as to maximize the sea views of every space. Additionally the topography of the site which is southern facing drops from a high point towards the water. This allowed for the creation of what is perceived as a one story building from the building approach “on the land side”, which is really the upper story of the villa. The villa’s full breadth and size can only be seen from the water.
