JFA was asked by the Kiev based development company HCM, to do a very quick study to generate alternatives for a residential site in the center of the city. As such two schemes were developed that generated very clear residential floor plates and prominent retail space. In both cases the schemes adhered to lighting requirement by stepping the building back and responded contextually by creating a masonry base similar in proportion and scale to the surrounding buildings while pushing floor area up into the sky in the form of a narrow glass tower.
